Tokoname ware, said to have the oldest history among Japan’s six ancient kilns, spread across the Chita Peninsula from around 1100, at the end of the Heian period. Sencha began to gain popularity in the late Edo period, leading to an increase in teapot production. Hitomizu, a kiln in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, creates tools suited to modern lifestyles while carrying on its high-quality clay and skilled craftsmanship.
