Kyoto uchiwa fan Aiba

Aiba began in 1689 (Genroku 2) when it opened a shop in Kyoto. Making Kyo uchiwa involves more than 20 processes, from crafting the fan ribs from bamboo to the finishing touches. Since the seventh generation, these processes have been carried out entirely in-house. At Aiba, we create uchiwa that can be enjoyed both as everyday items and works of art, including beautifully decorated “sukashi uchiwa” openwork fans and folding screens adorned with them.
