Kyōsashimono Champagne Cooler Misumi

A traditional woodworking technique called sashimono, in which pieces of wood are joined together without using nails or other fasteners. This champagne cooler was created by Shuji Nakagawa of Nakagawa Mokkougei, using a technique passed down for 700 years along with his own original ideas. The tub-style champagne cooler is lightweight, resists condensation, and is ideal for keeping bottles chilled.

The material is “Bishu cypress,” carefully managed as part of the Owari Tokugawa family’s private forest among Kiso cypress trees. It is made using wood from trees over 200 years old, and its appeal lies in the distinctive fragrance of cypress and beautiful straight grain. It can chill one full-size bottle.

※ To help prevent the wood from shrinking and changing over time, the inside may be treated with a glass coating. In that case, the texture of the inside and outside will differ slightly.
