Kyōsashimono Champagne Cooler Konoha Kōyamaki Japanese Umbrella Pine

This champagne cooler was created by Shuji Nakagawa, the third-generation craftsman of Nakagawa Mokkougei, using techniques passed down for 700 years and his original ideas. The tub-style champagne cooler is less prone to condensation and is also ideal for keeping bottles chilled. The material, koyamaki, is resistant to water and decay, and has been used in Japan since the Kofun period for water buckets, bridge materials, and bath tubs. Once widely distributed throughout Japan, koyamaki is now a rare tree that grows only in certain regions. Because it grows slowly, its annual rings are exceptionally fine, and the wood has an elegant white tone.
