Kyoto Fan Aiba

Aiha began in 1689 (Genroku 2) when it opened a store in the capital. There are more than 20 processes involved in making Kyo-uchiwa, starting with making the fan bones from bamboo and ending with the finishing touches. From the 7th generation, these processes have been integrated production. Aiba produces uchiwa fans that are both daily necessities and works of art, such as the elegantly decorated ”sukashi uchiwa” and folding screens decorated with them.
